Van Rompuy: “Almost a Lie” to Say EU Not Democratic

Unelected European Council President Herman van Rompuy was questioned by students at Warsaw University on democracy in the European Union. He seemed irritated at the suggestion that the EU was undemocratic, despite the fact that he’s completely unaccountable to the people of Europe.

Herman Van Rompuy has issued a robust defense of the European Union in the face of growing “suspicion and fear”, arguing that the bloc must not be seen as a new “Moscow”, but instead, the “Fatherland of peace.” “We have together to fight the danger of a new Euro-skepticism,” he said at the time. “Fear leads to egoism, egoism leads to nationalism, and nationalism leads to war … It is a feeling all over Europe, not of a majority, but everywhere present.”

The word ‘peace’ according to the Elite’s interpretation, means that you are soon out at war. The term “Fatherland” is a familiar concept for those of a recent past. In both Russia and former Nazi Germany, the terms ‘Fatherland’ and ‘peace’ were often used in propaganda. … The EU has just all the features of a Communist organization.
